As you review the following questions, it may helpful to answer these questions to yourself; your decision to honestly evaluate your responses could make the difference between your right to drive and your continued inability to do so. EmploymentAre you employed?
Employment Questions ExplanationThe hearing officer, not unlike other people, takes an interest in your livelihood. Where you work and what you do for a living says a lot about who you are and what sort of schedule you maintain. Also, the hearing officer may be interested in how far your job is located and whether or not you are required to drive during the course of employment. Of course, if your job requires you to drive, the officer would be concerned that you have driven despite your legal right to do so. By the same token, if you do not drive in the normal course of your employment, the hearing officer will assess how often you do drive, and whether or not there is an opportunity for advancement at work, should your right to drive be reinstated. Generally, it is the author’s opinion that a minimized need to drive helps the hearing officer conclude that you’re less likely to drive while intoxicated. It also authenticates the fact that your employment is legitimate: while without a license, you are more likely to do well at a job that does not require the need to for you to drive when you are not legally able to do so. In order to prove the testimony you are offering, a DLAD officer has the ability to personally verify the information you have provided. For this reason, the particulars of your job and how you are getting there can be proven by a follow-up call or other inquiry to your employer by the DLAD. The author does not believe that, in most cases, such a follow-up is completed. Nevertheless, your truthful responses will assist you greatly.
